About The Clay Station
I remember the building that now houses The Clay Station, as a Flying A Gas Station. Hanging outside was the Flying A logo with one gas pump on the island inviting you to fill up before heading out to Gordon Valley or Lake Berryessa.
In the mid 1800's Mankas Corner (across the street) was a busy wayside bar, dancehall, and stagecoach stop for travelers and business people. Local historians tell of other "accommodations" that were made available for the travelers including a bordello housed (you can see it peaking up) right behind the Clay Station building.Today the building is home to several wonderfully talented Suisun Valley artists who create everything from jewelry to ceramics.
